Rising above Porto’s historic centre, the Baroque tower becomes a striking part of the city skyline, with its stone architecture standing out against the sky.

The tower was designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni and built in the first half of the 18th century. Together with Clérigos Church, it forms one of Porto’s most important Baroque architectural landmarks.

At around 75 metres high, the tower has more than 200 steps to the top. During a visit, people can also discover part of the Brotherhood of Clérigos collection and the Christus Collection, linking the building's architecture with religious art and history.

Seeing Clérigos at night offers a different view of the city of Porto. The surrounding streets of the historic centre become quieter in some areas while cafés, restaurants and evening visitors bring other parts of the neighbourhood to life. The tower remains an easy point of reference.
