Renewables today account for 300 gigawatts of power capacity, or 54 percent of the country’s total, a sharp rise from the mere 4 gigawatts of renewables capacity that existed ten years ago.

The challenge now for the country is to give all this electricity somewhere to go, as electrical power capacity has notably fallen behind power generation during these recent developments of India’s electricity grid.
