Developed by Wandercraft, the innovative new device uses 12 motors and onboard sensors to maintain balance without crutches or a walker. Users control movements including sitting, standing, walking and turning through an adapted joystick.

Eve’s FDA clearance followed a study involving 16 patient-caregiver pairs, with every pair completing tests involving standing, walking and sitting. Nearly 69 percent of participants reached their target walking speed, while 87.5 percent completed all six everyday tasks tested.

Wandercraft has now launched US sales, with some patients receiving coverage through Medicare, veterans’ healthcare and workers’ compensation insurance.
