A recent Travel Market Report has revealed that the seven-night voyage will take place aboard Sea Cloud Spirit from 20 to 27 July, as Sea Cloud Cruises President in the Americas Kevin Smith joins passengers on a journey that coincides with the first anniversary of his appointment.

Special itinerary

The itinerary begins in Bilbao and includes calls at Gijón, A Coruña, and Vigo in Spain, before reaching Porto via the port of Leixões, with opportunities to visit Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela, and the Cíes Islands.

This voyage's special attractions feature an exclusive visit to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, where guests can experience selected artworks and Frank Gehry’s landmark architecture in a private, after-hours setting.

The programme will also include a day under full sail and a scenic journey along the Tagus River as the ship approaches Lisbon.

Evenings on deck

Kevin Smith and his wife, Christina, are expected to join guests for dinners, evenings on deck, and a sunset gathering, so that passengers can meet the company’s leadership during the voyage.

Speaking on the experience, the President highlighted the importance of teamwork aboard a sailing vessel, comparing it to Sea Cloud Cruises. “Our team makes the experience what it is, and our guests have a real part in shaping what comes next”, he said.

The cruise will also showcase regional food and wine, with northern Spanish and Portuguese specialities featuring in the onboard dining programme, including Basque pintxos, Galician seafood and wines from Rías Baixas and the Douro Valley.

Regional culture

According to the cruise line’s published calendar, the seven-night sailing, listed as SCS-2725, starts at $7,995 (€6,900 approximately) per person, although the euro equivalent will vary with exchange rates.

Furthermore, an optional pre-cruise programme in Bilbao and the Rioja wine region is also available from 18 to 20 July.

Sea Cloud Spirit accommodates up to 136 passengers, blending traditional sailing techniques with modern comforts, and offers a smaller-ship alternative to larger cruise vessels, with an emphasis on sailing, regional culture, and more intimate journeys.
