The day will run from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, with the parties in turn (JPP, PAN, CDS-PP, BE, PCP, Livre, IL, PS, Chega and PSD) having their hearings.
This comes on the back of a call last week from the Head of State for the PSD/CDS-PP coalition government and the opposition to get to broad consensus on the urgent need to put in place structural measures in the housing sector.
The urgency of the hearings is evident in the wake of the incidents that took place during a police operation at a demonstration for the right to housing.
The President was very much displeased with what had occurred and made it clear that we must find solutions through negotiation rather than through violence.
There will be a Council of State meeting on 2 November with António José Seguro to discuss the same issues. Social cohesion is defined as the guarantee of access to healthcare, housing and decent wages at the right time.
The President has pointed to the effect of the general rise in prices on the level of social inequality and has spoken of the "stuck generation" of young people. He has stressed the need to have affordable housing for all.
