Following talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg, President Vladimir Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said discussions could take place in Abu Dhabi. Witkoff confirmed that negotiations would continue, marking another diplomatic effort to end the war in Ukraine.

US envoy Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Oslo before travelling to Russia, proposing negotiations involving all three countries’ leaders.

Previous talks between Washington and Moscow stalled in February following the outbreak of war involving the US, Israel and Iran.

Earlier negotiations had failed to secure broader agreements on ending hostilities, prisoner exchanges or attacks on energy infrastructure.
