In a statement, the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service of the Azores (SRPCBA) said that, according to the Azores Earthquake Surveillance and Information Center (CIVISA), the earthquake was recorded at 10:40 am (11:40 am in Lisbon).

According to Lusa News Agency, the earthquake was felt with IV intensity on the Modified Mercalli scale in the parish council of Povoação and with intensity III / IV in the parish of Ribeira Quente, municipality of Povoação.

According to the Civil Protection of the Azores, CIVISA "continues to monitor the evolution of the situation, issuing new communications if necessary".
