The two operations by the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Republican Guard (GNR), which end on January 4, will be carried out in two phases: Christmas, between December 18 and 26, and New Year's, between December 27 and January 4. These were presented during the launch of the National Road Safety Authority's (ANSR) Christmas and New Year's campaign.

During the first phase of the operation, the GNR will reinforce patrols on the main highways towards the northern region, and during the New Year's period, enforcement actions will be more intense on the roads in the south.

During the Christmas and New Year operation, the GNR (National Republican Guard) will be particularly attentive to alcohol, speed, and mobile phone use, in addition to reinforcing policing along land borders to support Portuguese emigrants.

In turn, the PSP (Public Security Police) will reinforce its police presence to prevent road accidents, giving special emphasis to monitoring the main causes of accidents such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or psychotropic substances, mobile phone use while driving, and failure to use seat belts and child car seats.
