In addition to speeding, alcohol consumption and the lack of vehicle inspection and insurance are other violations most frequently recorded by the GNR during the operation, which began on December 18 and ends at the beginning of the year, said GNR Major Tiago Machado, who coordinates the GNR inspection operation located at the Alverca tollbooths, with a connection to the A1 motorway.

“Visibility and support for drivers is our focus at this moment,” said the GNR major, who also identified some highways where the GNR's Christmas and New Year's operation is taking place, such as the A2, A23, A28, and A24.

“We conducted a risk analysis, identified where most accidents occur, and directed more patrols to those locations,” explained Tiago Machado.
