This initiative is organised by the students from the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of Algarve (ESGHT) – Portimão Campus, as part of their Events and Congress Organisation course unit. Led by volunteers, the Animal Adoption Fair aims to promote responsible pet adoption, raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare, collect essential goods, and support local animal protection associations.

The programme will bring together several organisations from across the region and feature an animal adoption showcase, awareness activities, and workshops focused on animal care and wellbeing, including pet grooming and training. Visitors will also be able to attend a themed discussion titled “Caring is Essential: From Intention to Action”, take part in a charity collection campaign for supplies such as food, blankets, and other supplies for animals in need, and view the photography exhibition “I Don’t Want to Die Here”.

This event will start at 9.30am with a formal session attended by representatives from the University of Algarve, the Portimão City Council, the ESGHT, and the UAlg Academic Association. The ceremony will be followed by a performance from the University of Algarve’s mixed traditional musical group from the Portimão Campus, TunaBebes.

The first workshop, “Pet Training”, will begin at 10am, with the round-table discussion “Caring is Essential: From Intention to Action” scheduled for 11am, followed by a musical performance by singer Celina Dias. A second workshop, “Pet Grooming”, will take place at 12pm, and the fair is expected to close at 12.45pm.

Open to the public, the organisers invite the wider community to attend and take part in this initiative dedicated to supporting and promoting the protection of animals.
