Avenida Station sits on the Blue Line of the Lisbon Metro and is one of the original eleven stations that opened with the network on 29 December 1959. You’ll find it right on Avenida da Liberdade — the iconic avenue that gives the station its name. The first architectural design was created by Falcão e Cunha.
The station has evolved over the years: it was expanded on 9 November 1982, with a new design by Sanchez Jorge, and later refreshed on 8 June 2009, under the direction of architect Ana Nascimento.
