Mayor Nicola Povoleri said family-focused policies have remained at the centre of the municipality’s strategy, supported in part by EU recovery funding. More than 13 million euros has been invested in schools, nurseries, sports facilities and public spaces. Researchers and local officials say Pelago reflects a wider trend of people moving to smaller communities as rising costs and overtourism make city living less attractive.
