According to information available on the IPMA website, several municipalities in the districts of Faro, Beja, Santarém, Leiria, Coimbra, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real and Bragança are at very high risk of wildfires.

The risk of wildfires will remain high in some regions at least until the end of the weekend.

This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation over the previous 24 hours.

The institute forecasts for today on the mainland: partly cloudy or clear skies, becoming cloudier in some areas of the west coast until mid-morning and from late afternoon onwards, with occasionally strong winds along the western coastal strip and in the higher areas of the Central and Southern regions.

The forecast also points to a slight drop in inland temperatures and an increase in maximum temperatures along the Algarve's leeward coast.

Minimum temperatures will range between 9 degrees Celsius (in Vila Real) and 18 degrees Celsius (in Faro), and maximum temperatures between 21 degrees Celsius (in Aveiro, Porto, and Viana do Castelo) and 33 degrees Celsius (in Faro).
