This company, which manages a portfolio of hotels throughout Europe, has identified Portugal as one of its priority markets and aims to operate up to ten hotels in the country by 2029.
Tourism destinations
Its first Portuguese project has already been secured with a signed contract for a 200-room hotel in Porto, scheduled to open in 2028, marking the beginning of Odyssey’s expansion plans across Portugal’s most established tourism destinations.
According to reports in Diário das Notícias/Dinheiro Vivo, after establishing a presence in Porto, the group intends to pursue opportunities in Lisbon and the Algarve before exploring secondary destinations throughout the country.
The Odyssey Hotel Group is particularly interested in acquiring and operating upscale boutique hotels with between 80 and 100 rooms, while also seeking larger-scale developments focused on conferences, meetings and events, as well as conversions of existing properties in central areas of Lisbon and Porto.
Internationally recognised
This operator plans to grow through both lease agreements and hotel management contracts, having already participated in discussions with a range of investors, including French investment funds as well as Portuguese and Spanish family offices, to support the expansion.
The Odyssey Hotel Group, owned by private equity firm ActivumSG, currently manages around 30 hotels across six European countries: Belgium, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Its portfolio also includes internationally recognised brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Accor, Hyatt and Radisson.
