“Ínsula” is an exhibition linked to the Tremor Festival at Arquipélago, a contemporary arts centre in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Açores. It was on from 27 March to 17 May 2026 and was presented as part of the wider cultural programme in the Azores.

Insula brings together various elements of what makes the açores such a special place, from its natural wonders to its cultural celebrations. The exhibition took place in an underground gallery, with instruments, plants and stones that you can find around the island of São Miguel. It explored the idea of producing sound through materials that are not seen as instruments.

During the time it was being exhibited, there were also performances where people would get involved in the atmosphere of “Ínsula” and be invited to interact with the objects scattered around.
