In certain areas of Alentejo, where light pollution is significantly lower, the activity of stargazing takes on a very special charm.

This setting becomes even more exceptional when experienced from within a historical monument, which is precisely the premise of the “À Luz das Estrelas” (By Starlight) initiative, scheduled for 24 July in the municipality of Alandroal, in the Évora region.

The event will take place within the iconic Juromenha Fortress, a medieval-era fortification rebuilt in the 17th century that stands beside the Guadiana River, combining astronomy with the celebration of the municipality's cultural heritage.

The activity promises to provide participants with a night focused on identifying constellations, stars and other celestial bodies visible only after dark, taking full advantage of the region’s privileged conditions for contemplating the cosmos. Integrated into the cultural programme promoted by the municipality of Alandroal, the experience is entirely free of charge and is scheduled to start at 9.30 pm.

However, to ensure the quality of the activity and preserve the historical site, participation requires mandatory prior registration and is strictly limited to 50 people. Therefore, for further information, please contact 268 440 045 or email turismo.alandroal@cm-alandroal.pt. It is also possible to go to the Posto de Turismo de Alandroal and secure a place.
