The municipalities in question are Valpaços (Vila Real), Macedo de Cavaleiros, Vimioso, Vinhais, Bragança, Mirandela, Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Alfândega da Fé (Bragança), Belmonte, Penamacor (Castelo Branco), Sabugal (Guarda), Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira (Faro).

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has also placed more than 80 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Beja, and Faro at very high risk of fire.

Around 70 municipalities in the districts of Vila Real, Porto, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra, Guarda, Lisbon, Santarém, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, and Beja are also at high risk of fire.

The Institute also notes that the fire risk will intensify in some regions starting 21 July and will remain high at least until the weekend. Maximum temperatures will increase across most of the mainland during the week.

The rural fire risk determined by IPMA has five levels, ranging from low to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation over the previous 24 hours.

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts for today on the mainland mostly clear or partly cloudy skies, becoming generally very cloudy on the North and Central coast and in the Alentejo region until late morning, with the possibility of drizzle on the Central coast until mid-morning.

The forecast also indicates a temporary increase in cloud cover in the Alto Minho mountains, with the possibility of light showers in the afternoon, light to moderate winds from the west, and morning fog or mist in some areas.

Minimum temperatures will range between 14 degrees Celsius (Guarda) and 20 (Aveiro), and maximum temperatures between 24 degrees (Viana do Castelo) and 32 (Évora, Beja, Faro, Castelo Branco and Bragança).
