The IPMA (Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere) predicts a rise in maximum temperatures this Monday, with light to moderate winds (up to 30 km/h) from the west, and occasionally strong winds (up to 40 km/h) along the coast, Lusa reports.

Around 30 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém and Faro are facing a maximum wildfire risk, while more than a hundred municipalities spread across the North and Central regions of the country are categorised as being at very high risk.

Six municipalities in the Algarve, the municipality of Almodóvar (Beja), seven municipalities in the district of Portalegre, and half a dozen others in Aveiro, Coimbra, and Leiria are also at a very high risk, ECO News reports.

The Alentejo region is already at high risk, along with more than 40 municipalities in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Viseu, Santarém, Leiria, Lisbon and Portalegre, as well as four municipalities in the Faro district.

The IPMA categorises the risk of wildfires on five levels, ranging from low to extreme. Calculations are based on factors such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and the amount of precipitation in the previous 24 hours.

The hottest cities this Monday will be Castelo Branco at 35 degrees, Faro at 32 degrees, Lisbon at 29 degrees, and Porto at 25 degrees.
