The 2027 eclipse will not be like the one in 2026, as it will only be partially visible in Portugal. It will take place on 2 August 2027 and will be seen more clearly in the south of the country.

It should be noted that in 2027, it will not be possible to observe a total solar eclipse anywhere in our country, as the next opportunity will only occur in 2144. Even so, there is no need to go very far, as the eclipse can be seen in its entirety in southern Spain.

While the 2027 eclipse will be fully visible in southern Spain, Portugal will only have the opportunity to see a total eclipse again in 2144.

National Geographic reveals that the solar eclipse of 2 August 2027 will take place between 8:30am and 10:40am and will cross southern Spain from west to east. Therefore, visits to Cádiz and Málaga are recommended if the goal is to appreciate the eclipse in its totality.

In Portugal, the eclipse will only be partial, and observers can witness an obstruction of the sun of over 90% in the Algarve and Alentejo regions. However, there are records that on the island of Madeira, an obstruction of 97% of the sun can be seen.
