Despite years of painful sickness, she remained joyful, taught children, encouraged those around her, and became a shining example of unwavering faith and trust in God.


St. Alphonsa died on 28 July, 1946, at the age of 36, leaving behind a legacy of holiness that continues to inspire countless faithful. She was canonised by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008, becoming the first woman from India to be declared a saint.
