In a statement, the GNR reported that, as part of an operation to monitor the marketing, transport, and storage of fresh fish, officers found a 46-year-old man handling, storing, and selling fish inside a warehouse.

They discovered that the operator did not possess the Veterinary Control Number (NCV) required to conduct the activity legally, the force added.

Additionally, they “determined that a significant portion of the fish lacked the necessary traceability documents,” and “as a result of the violations found, the entire stock of fish was seized.”

Violation notice

The GNR issued a formal notice of violation, noting that fines for such infractions can reach “24,000 euros.”

According to the UCCF, the seized fish will undergo sanitary inspections by the competent authorities to determine its final disposition.
