It has been many decades now since a lot of the general public understood the basic message of the Bible. Unfortunately, the waters have been muddied by false teachers and compromised Christianity but the teachings of Jesus are crystal clear!
Here are the main points.
God's Love
1. The message of the Bible is a message of God‘s love, forgiveness, and salvation. God loves us and he doesn’t want to have to judge us for those things that we have done that violate his righteousness and holiness.
God's Compassion
2. Because “God is love” and is “the God of all compassion” He devised a way for every person to be redeemed & forgiven.
God's Judgement
3. God is perfectly just and Justice demands a judgment for every transgression of God’s law. Forgiveness for these transgressions requires that justice is perfectly satisfied before God’s court. There is a judgment before God after we leave our human bodies.
God's Solution
4. So God had a dilemma. Justice demands that sin, transgression and the violation of His principles and laws have to have a just consequence. The Bible is clear that the wages of sin is death… spiritual and physical, but the God of love and compassion does not want to have to condemn anyone. In our fallen state we have no hope of achieving purity or holiness. We have all broken His Commandments and none of us “deserve” God’s favour and blessing. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit determined that the Son of God, would take on human form, live a perfectly sinless life, and then die a substitutionary death as the full satisfaction of God’s justice. Those who would receive the gift of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus would not have to be judged. Said simply, God would place all of your sin and judgment upon his own Son and transfer the righteousness of his Son into your eternal account.
God's Sacrifice – for you!
5. The Son of God came as the Messiah and lived a perfectly sinless life fulfilling the law of God so that he could be the sacrifice to pay for our sin. By placing your faith in him you will be accounted as having the righteousness of Jesus Christ himself. It is still possible for you to inherit eternal life instead of condemnation.
The gospel of John states this simply and clearly in John 3.16-18:
16) “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
17) “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18) “Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.”
God never violates your free will.
This is clear from the very beginning of the Bible. After being created in the image of God, man and woman had the choice to enjoy being happily naked and unashamed, living in a perfect environment or to buy into the lie that they could “be as God is” and “you just need to have a realisation of your own divinity and godhood”. Evil was slipped into the human experience through the deception of a fallen angel who took on the form of a “serpent”. The original Hebrew word means “the shining one“ or the ultimate deceiver.
How does a person receive this redemption, forgiveness, justification, and salvation?
It is so simple that a small child is able to do it. Invest your faith in God and Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
Agree with God for a change and ask God’s forgiveness for your sin. Pray to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you do this, you will have a massive spiritual change in your life. You will be “born of the Spirit” of God & spiritually regenerated. You will have a burden taken off your shoulders and divine life infused into your inner being. The Holy Spirit will take up residence inside your human spirit.
No human institution, religious organisation, church or group can impart salvation to a person. Salvation is not through a church, whether it is Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant. There is not one church on earth that can impart salvation and the Bible is very clear on this matter. Being religious, doing good works or being “spiritual” will never get you there! Salvation is only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Only Jesus bore our sins and paid the penalty for our debt to God. God loves you so much that he sacrificed himself to pay for your sin so that he wouldn’t have to judge you. That is it in a nutshell. Would you like “a do-over” in life? Would you like a clean slate? Would you like the absolute assurance of God‘s forgiveness, salvation and eternal life? Believe and it is not only possible, it happens.
