Irish visitors contributed approximately €1.23 billion in tourism receipts to Portugal’s economy during 2025, according to the latest figures from Turismo de Portugal.

Ireland is now Portugal’s sixth-largest international market in terms of tourism receipts. Around 900,000 passengers travelled from Ireland to Portugal during 2025, an increase of 8.5% on the previous year, with more than three-quarters of flights from Ireland to Portugal in 2025 originating in Dublin.

The figures underline the strength of the relationship between the two countries. They also reflect how Portugal’s appeal to Irish residents is increasingly extending beyond the traditional summer holiday season.

The Algarve remains the leading Portuguese destination for Irish visitors, accounting for 73.6% of overnight stays. Lisbon and Northern Portugal are also attracting growing attention from Irish visitors seeking different lifestyles, property and investment opportunities.

Against this backdrop, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce is bringing its Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars to Dublin on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

This free-to-attend event will take place at the Herbert Park Hotel in Ballsbridge from 10.30 am until 7.00 pm. It will bring together specialists in Portuguese property, taxation, law, finance, residency and lifestyle.

Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, said:

“Irish visitors already have a very strong connection with Portugal. Increasingly, we are speaking to people who want to explore whether that connection could become a more permanent lifestyle move, either through buying a property, spending part of the year in Portugal or relocating fully.

“The Dublin show gives visitors the opportunity to speak directly with trusted professionals and obtain practical answers before making any important decisions.”

The seminar programme on the day will include expert presentations and discussions on the practical and financial considerations involved in moving to Portugal. Visitors will also be able to meet representatives from leading Portuguese destinations, property businesses and professional advisory firms involved in tax planning, wealth management, pension planning and relocation services.

Attendance at the Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars is free, but advance registration is recommended.
