Miguel Oliveira, 31, will complete his second season at the controls of the BMW M 1000 RR, for the official ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team, after debuting in the championship in 2026, following seven seasons in MotoGP.

“Extending my journey with BMW is a reflection of the trust we have built together and our shared ambition for the future,” said the Portuguese rider, quoted in the Bavarian team's statement.

Journey in the Superbike World Championship

In his debut season in the Superbike World Championship, Miguel Oliveira has so far achieved four podium finishes. Three were achieved in the second round of the championship, at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, where he finished in the top three in all races of the weekend.

The Portuguese rider subsequently missed two rounds, in May and June, due to a serious shoulder injury suffered in a crash at the Balaton Park circuit in Hungary.

Since then, Oliveira has been working with the team on physical recovery and a return to the podium, a collaboration that BMW has now decided to extend for several seasons, without disclosing the exact duration of the new contract.

“We laid the foundations this season, but I believe the best is yet to come. I am excited to continue this journey together and to continue building something we can all be proud of,” added Miguel Oliveira.

The head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Sven Blusch, highlighted the Portuguese rider's rapid adaptation to the new championship, following his time in MotoGP.

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Miguel in the coming years. He adapted very quickly to our Superbike project and has become an important part of the team, both on and off the track,” he said.

Sven Blusch acknowledged that the injury suffered in Hungary represented "a setback," but expressed his conviction that the team and the driver can "achieve great things together this season and in the years to come."
