Spain grants up to €12,000 to be obtained for the purchase of vehicles

From 1 October, more than half a million foreign self-employed people working in Spain, including over 26,000 British citizens, will be able to apply for state incentives to purchase new passenger and commercial vehicles.

The new round of applications launched under the Plan Auto+ scheme, information about which appeared in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and was reported by the Euro Weekly News, has a total budget of €50 million. €8 million of this sum is set aside specifically for self-employed individuals and €42 million for companies.

The grants vary from €6,000 for passenger cars to €7,500 for light commercial vehicles; the amounts can go up to €7,000 and €12,000 respectively for those professionals who are covered by the European Union’s Social Climate Fund.

The applications will open at 10 am on 1 October and will remain open until 2 pm on 31 December, with the funds being distributed strictly in the order in which the applications are received until the budget is used up.

All people, regardless of nationality, are eligible, provided that they have registered their economic activity with the Spanish tax authorities, are current with their Social Security obligations, and buy or lease vehicles that have the "Zero Emissions" label issued by the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT).
