The household savings rate in the eurozone decreased to 14.2 percent in the second quarter, Notícias ao Minuto reports, while the investment rate remained stable at 8.3 percent.
Between April and June, the household savings rate fell compared to 15.1 percent in the same quarter of the previous year, as well as from 14.4 percent in the previous quarter, according to data from the European Union’s statistics office.
Eurostat explains that the variation is due to the fact that consumption has increased at a faster rate than gross disposable income, at 1.3 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
Concurrently, the household investment rate in the euro area was 8.3 percent, stable compared to the same quarter of 2025 and 0.1 percentage points lower than the previous quarter, because gross fixed capital formation increased at a slower pace than gross disposable income, at 0.5 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
