Michael Reeve successfully guided afpop for 23 years in his role as CEO but has now stepped down for a much-deserved retirement with his wife Linda.
Daisy Sampson has now taken on the challenging role of guiding afpop into the future, with the help of the talented team who have helped to make the association a reference for foreigners of all nationalities looking to get the very best out of life in Portugal, providing advice, support, exclusive Member discounts and social events.
Daisy shared: “Michael has certainly left some very big shoes to fill, however thanks to some expert guidance from him, invaluable support from the Management Council, and of course the knowledge and experience of the team, I am looking forward to throwing myself into this new role and all that it entails”.
Daisy has been living in Portugal since leaving university in the UK in 2003, and lives in the central Algarve with her two teenage daughters, who were born and raised here, and her Canadian partner. “I am also lucky enough to have family members living locally, including my amazing 94-year-old gran, who is also an afpop Member, which means that Portugal is very much my home”.
She takes on the position of CEO following her previous role as editor of The Portugal News, and as the news reader on Kiss FM Algarve.
“I have a lot to learn (so please bear with me!) but this will in no way affect the exceptional service provided to Members as we move into this new phase. The Association remains stronger than ever, and I hope to be able to announce new initiatives in the future, while the team will continue to constantly update and assist Members to get the very best out of life here in Portugal.
“Finally, I want to add my good wishes to Michael and his wife Linda for their retirement and their future together”.
