A goal by substitute Ferran Torres in the 106th minute sealed the title for the European team, repeating their 2010 victory, when they also won the final 1-0 in extra time against the Netherlands, with a goal by Andrés Iniesta.

The Spanish team, which had only reached the final 16 years ago, equals the two titles of Uruguay (1930 and 1950) and France (1998 and 2018)- two teams that eliminated them from the 2026 edition – and is in fifth place in the ranking, led by Brazil's five-time champion.

Luis de la Fuente's team adds the World Cup to the 2024 European Championship, now holding the two main national team titles.

In turn, Argentina lost for the fourth time in the final, as in 1930, 1990 and 2014, remaining with three titles, won in 1978, 1986 and 2022, in fourth place in the ranking.
