This campaign will take place on 23 July between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm at the headquarters of ADSBA – Associação de Doadores de Sangue do Barlavento do Algarve (Association of Blood Donors of the Western Algarve). For this purpose, ADSBA joins forces with Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense (Portimonense Winning Society) to carry out another blood drive.
Under the motto “DÊ SANGUE – SALVE VIDAS E SEJA UM@ VENCEDOR@” (“GIVE BLOOD – SAVE LIVES AND BE A WINNER"), the blood drive will only take place on 23 July, on Avenida 25 de Abril, at the ADSBA headquarters. For appointments or more information, you can contact 965017465.
In a statement, the Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense states that "donating blood is a simple gesture, without contradictions for healthy adults, so you just need to be over 18 and under 70 years old, weigh 50 kilos or more and be healthy."
Who can donate blood?
The Portugal News has already informed its readers of some of the criteria for being able to donate blood.
Being over 18 and under 70 years old is a mandatory criterion, as is weighing 50 kilos or more. During the clinical evaluation carried out before the donation, it is important to answer truthfully the questions asked by the health professional present.
Donors will have to answer questions about their health, such as medication taken, or even lifestyle habits, such as drug use, antibiotic use, or even getting tattoos and sex life.
If the clinical evaluation is positive, the donor will know they are doing a good deed and helping those who are more vulnerable.
