Located in the Herdade dos Salgados, the 5-star resort is dedicated to providing the best possible conditions, putting guests in direct contact with the Algarve’s wildlife. “The Westin Salgados Beach Resort in the Algarve was conceived as a sanctuary where wellness and elegance are natural”, their director explained in a press release. “Our goal is for every guest to connect with themselves and the world around them, in an environment comforting to the senses with experiences that are meaningful, reflecting the tranquil beauty of the Algarve’s coast.”
The hotel features two restaurants: Marluso, an outdoor restaurant overlooking the beach, and Cusco Bar, a restaurant that focuses on well-being with a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for watching the sunset and unwinding at the end of the day. In addition, guests can also enjoy the 14 Café House, GymFit and the Wellness Hub, which further reinforce the resort’s commitment to a balanced and rejuvenating stay.
They invited us to stay so we could spread their message with a full understanding of its importance.
An authentic experience
A concierge greeted us at our block and showed us our room, informing us that they were available 24 hours a day through the phone next to the bed.
We were welcomed into the room with a gift, four tasty pastéis de nata, a sign that we were being delivered an authentic Portuguese experience.
The layout was elegant and cosy, equipped with a safe, coffee machine, TV, and Westin’s very own branded Heavenly Bed, with a patented pillow, soft sheets, and a feather mattress that sends you into the deepest of rests, as well as lavender Sleep Well Balm, the resort’s signature scent for relaxation. The bathroom is designed as a mini-spa, including White Tea self-care products, Dental and Vanity kits.
The room itself is an immersive experience in the Algarve, featuring a panoramic window stretching from floor to roof, offering a once-in-a-lifetime view of the Atlantic Ocean. When it’s time to sleep, opaque curtains close in, the Sleep Well menu helps put you to bed, and the natural ambient soundscape sends you into that good night.
At the Westin Salgados Beach Resort, there is no shortage of things to do and experience.
Indoors, Westin offers an unmatched fine-dining experience, a holistic exercise programme, and a full set of route recommendations to help you stay fit and explore your surroundings.

They also have a spa committed to rejuvenating not only your body but your mind too, featuring a hydromassage pool and a comprehensive circuit with a sauna, Turkish bath, an ice fountain, and sensory showers. All seven senses are taken care of: the five physical ones everyone knows, as well as the two psychological ones of emotion and meaning.
Outdoors is where the oyster that is the Algarve opens up to you: the resort has direct access to the Salgados Beach, allowing guests to dip their toes in the wondrous Atlantic Ocean, and if saltwater doesn’t interest you, there are also five swimming pools, one for each block.
Additionally, the resort boasts the most sustainable golf course in the region – it’s the only one to use 100 percent recycled water. Both the sand and green fertiliser are used with the environment in mind, and the signage is all recycled, sourced from a local Portuguese company.
This is also the only place in the country to offer two indoor golf simulators, allowing players to practice the speed and strength required for shots, as well as try out different courses around the world.
On the golf course, one can get an exclusive view of the Salgados Lagoon, a biodiversity and bird-watching hotspot with over 220 species documented, immersing guests deeper into the best the Algarve has to witness.
Coastal landscape
This resort is built on the philosophy of biophilic design, with architecture inspired by the surrounding coastal landscape, dissolving the barriers between the interior and the outside world with ample windows that let in natural light and locally sourced materials such as sustainable wood, handmade ceramics, and the famous Portuguese limestone.

The local nature is prioritised, with gardens created from native species, including some of the most impressive palm trees you’ve ever seen, which provide shaded, perfumed pathways that offer guests the perfect spot for mindfulness, surrounded by microclimates that support local biodiversity. Within the garden, you can also find a humble playground to keep your children occupied, highlighting the family-friendly aspects of the location.
This integration with the landscape doesn’t stop at physical traits, as it extends to culture as well.
The resort is a one-stop destination for the culinary arts, celebrating local gastronomy with a buffet designed around seasonal ingredients from land and sea, offering balanced nutrition to further bolster guests’ health and wellness, a seafood restaurant focusing on fresh catches that captures the essence of the Mediterranean way of life, and a lobby bar serving artisanal concoctions, mocktails, and juices.
Guests can even participate in the gastronomic process through a partnership with local fishermen, immersing themselves in sustainable fishing and grilling their catches on the beach afterwards.
The Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve, also offers 95 rooms and 42 residences available for rent or purchase, all fully renovated, furnished, and equipped. These have an associated rental management programme, which provides 24-hour security and maintenance, ensuring peace of mind and profitability. It’ll be hard to find a more authentic 5-star Algarve experience elsewhere.
