This Megadeth performance is announced about a month after a show the band had scheduled for 5 July in Lisbon, as part of the Evil Live festival, was cancelled.

Megadeth's return will now happen in their own name, on 13 April in Lisbon, at the last stop of the European tour "Breakout: Hibernation Of The Nations," a "global farewell" for the band's fans.

Tickets for this show, which will also feature Black Label Society and Testament, will go on sale from 7 August.

Megadeth, who have performed several times in Portugal, were supposed to play last July at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, along with Marilyn Manson, Mastodon, and Converge.

Blitz said the show was cancelled about 25 minutes after the scheduled start time.

The band and promoter Prime Artists gave contradictory accounts of the reasons for the cancellation. Megadeth, in a post shared on social media, cited technical problems, while the promoter assured that they had done everything possible to overcome any technical issues.

The promoter Prime Artists stated that "despite these measures, the band's representatives maintained their decision to cancel the performance."

At the time of the cancellation, DECO - the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection - clarified that "regardless of the reasons that may have led to the cancellation, the non-performance of the show entitles the ticket holder to a refund," especially since Megadeth was announced "as one of the main headliners of the Evil Live festival."
