Rolled out in three phases

The first phase began on 15 July 2026, establishing the UrgentDoc technological ecosystem in Portugal. According to the company, this phase included compliance with Portuguese data privacy standards, localised user interfaces, and integration with local payment and digital health workflows.

The second phase is onboarding certified Portuguese physicians. UrgentDoc.eu is establishing a localised network of certified medical professionals registered with Portugal’s national medical council (Ordem dos Médicos). This phase involves the recruitment and credential verification of local, bilingual doctors.

The third phase will be the public launch and rollout of 24/7 video consultation services across mainland Portugal and the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores.

The company mentions that public hospital emergency wards in Portugal often face hour-long waiting times for non-critical conditions, while private walk-in clinics can be expensive. UrgentDoc.eu offers “an accessible, low-cost alternative for minor emergencies, urgent prescriptions, UTIs, infections, and Fit-to-Fly certificates.” Consultations are conducted in English or Portuguese, start at 35 euros, and have average wait times of under 15 minutes.

2. Connect with a Certified Local Doctor: Engage in a private, encrypted video consultation with a physician registered with the Ordem dos Médicos to review symptoms, medical history, and treatment options.

3. Receive Digital Prescriptions & Guidance: If medically appropriate, the physician issues an official electronic prescription sent directly to the patient’s device, ready for immediate fulfilment at local pharmacies (farmácias).
