According to the Viseu municipality, the alliance aims to bring the two destinations closer together and build new links between the coast and the country’s interior, creating synergies for mutual tourism promotion and enhancement.

The cooperation is based on the complementary nature of the two territories, combining the capital’s strong national and international profile with Viseu’s distinctive offerings in historical and cultural heritage, nature tourism, gastronomy, and wine tourism.

This agreement, signed by Viseu Mayor João Azevedo and ERT-RL President Carla Salsinha, outlines plans for joint advertising campaigns, coordinated participation in industry trade fairs and events, and the creation of integrated tourism itineraries and packages that combine the attractions of both destinations.

Professional training

Beyond promotional activities, the protocol establishes professional training and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at industry professionals, hoteliers, and private-sector stakeholders.

The document also includes provisions for technical collaboration to position and promote both Viseu and the Lisbon Region as premier destinations for business tourism, conferences, and corporate events.
