The competition will take place on Sunday, 4 October at the Pavilhão Desportivo de Olhos de Água in Albufeira, bringing together teams from Porto, the Oeste region, Ribatejo, Lisbon, Setúbal and the Algarve.

Organisers are expecting around eight women’s teams and 16 men’s teams for the national final, with competition running from 10am until 6pm.

But the darts start a day earlier.

On Saturday, 3 October, the same venue will host the Open Cidade de Albufeira, an open competition which forms part of Portugal’s national darts calendar.

Play begins at 2.30 pm, with around 64 competitors expected to take part.

The two events are being organised by the Associação de Setas do Distrito de Faro, with support from Albufeira City Council.

The Portuguese Cup final is one of the country’s main national competitions for traditional steel-tip darts, played on sisal boards.

Bringing the event to Albufeira also gives Algarve players the chance to compete alongside teams travelling from several other parts of Portugal, while introducing the sport to a wider local audience.

With the open tournament on Saturday followed by the national final on Sunday, Olhos de Água will have an entire weekend dedicated to darts.
