Developed by UK-based Stablepharma, the powdered vaccine can be stored at room temperature for up to a year before being mixed with water. Scientists say the technology could reduce vaccine waste and simplify global distribution.

Scientists say around half of vaccines are wasted globally because they are exposed to unsuitable temperatures during storage and transport. Researchers believe room-temperature formulations could help overcome cold-chain challenges, particularly in isolated areas. The phase one study involved 60 volunteers, with researchers stressing that larger clinical trials are still needed to confirm the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness.
