Yesterday, we visited the Feira dos Ofícios (Crafts Fair), which has been taking place along Rua do Cais since 7 August and comes to an end today, 16 August.

The fair is organised by the Associação de Artes e Sabores de Tavira (ASTA), with the support of Tavira Council, and brings together different types of regional handicrafts, traditional skills and artisans showing their work.

Walking along the river, there were plenty of stalls to stop at, with everything from handmade jewellery and decorative pieces to traditional crafts, locally made products and traditional food. In some stalls, you can actually see the artisans working and get a better idea of how the pieces are made.

We walked through the fair, stopped at different stalls and then continued through the historic centre, which was full of people enjoying the warm summer evening.

For anyone who has not visited yet, there is still one last chance today. The Feira dos Ofícios is open on Sunday from 19:00 until 01:00.

And when this fair finishes, visitors will not have to wait very long for the next one.

From 20 to 24 August, Rua do Cais will welcome the 16th edition of the Feira de Stocks, organised by Associação Baixa de Tavira with the support of Tavira Council.

This time, the focus will move from traditional crafts to shopping, with local businesses bringing together products from different areas at reduced prices. Tavira Council says visitors can expect clothing and accessories, decoration, handicrafts, health and beauty products and other items.

The Feira de Stocks will be open every evening from 19:00 until 23:30, and entrance is free.

Both events are part of Tavira's summer programme, which has brought a succession of themed fairs to the city centre. Earlier in the summer, Rua do Cais hosted Tavira: Os Dias do Vinho and the Feira do Livro, followed by the Feira dos Ofícios and now the Feira de Stocks.

The programme does not finish there either. From 3 to 6 September, Tavira will host the 12th Feira da Dieta Mediterrânica, one of the city's biggest annual events and another good reason to return before the summer comes to an end.
