You can come with a restaurant in mind, but it is also worth leaving time to stroll through the old factory buildings, look into the shops and take in the busy atmosphere. There is plenty happening around you, yet it is easy to spend an afternoon here without a plan.

LX Factory sits in Alcântara, beneath the 25 de Abril Bridge. The complex began as an industrial site in the 19th century and was once home to the Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, a major textile manufacturer. A printing company later operated here too.

After the factories closed and the area declined, the buildings were brought back to life in 2008 as a space for creative businesses.

Today, those former industrial buildings house restaurants, cafés, studios, galleries and shops with local goods. We enjoyed walking around and seeing what caught our eye.
