The increase is the third largest of all OECD member states, only surpassed by Mexico and Spain, who also saw requests soar due to the crisis in Venezuela, Columbia and Honduras. Overall, Portugal recorded 1,735 applications, with the majority coming from Angola, followed by the Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
