The migration of Eurobic accounts to Abanca enters its decisive phase in the coming days, in a process that involves the unavailability of the app, changes in digital access, and the assignment of new IBANs to customers.

According to ECO, the transition marks the final stage of the integration of the bank formerly owned by Isabel dos Santos into the Galician institution, with direct impacts on the daily financial lives of approximately 240,000 clients.

In communications sent to customers, the bank has emphasised that the Eurobic Net service, both in the app and in home banking, will be deactivated even before the official start of the migration. The interruption is scheduled for the period between Friday and Sunday, during which it will not be possible to check balances or perform operations through the usual digital channels.

Temporary Interruption

Starting Monday, November 24th, access will be exclusively through Abanca channels. According to the same source, login will require the use of your NIF (Portuguese taxpayer ID) instead of your current username, while maintaining the password used for Eurobic. For clients already using Abanca, occasional interruptions may occur, although the bank guarantees the overall continuity of services.

Another point highlighted concerns receipts, which will not be automatically transferred between platforms. ECO reports that the bank recommends downloading all transaction records up to November 20th, information that will no longer be accessible once the Eurobic application is deactivated.

Pending Transactions

The process also includes guidance on transactions pending authorization. The publication adds that these should be completed before the start of the migration, as they will not be transferred to the new system. Despite this, the bank assures that essential data will be transferred automatically, including frequent beneficiaries, direct debits, and digital documentation associated with accounts.

The update is not limited to access channels. Starting Monday, a new IBAN will also be assigned to each customer. The same source mentions that this change has already been communicated by letter, where the bank explains that, during the first year, all recurring transactions will continue to be processed even with the old IBAN.

The bank indicates that, to avoid inconvenience, customers should update their IBAN in regular operations in advance. Although the initial transition is automatic, some precautions are necessary, especially in receiving instant transfers. In these cases, the bank recommends communicating the new IBAN to the issuers as soon as possible.

ECO explains that the update should also extend to financial aggregation applications used by some customers. Maintaining old information on these platforms may hinder access to financial positions or the execution of transactions.

In the set of notices sent, the bank also reinforces that the new IBAN should only be used from Monday onwards, coinciding with the activation of the new accesses and the definitive end of the Eurobic Net platform.
