The European Parliament recently voted in favour of passengers' right to carry a small carry-on bag in addition to the personal item already permitted under the seat.

Jarvis argues that this measure reveals a lack of understanding on the part of politicians, stating that cabins do not have enough physical space to accommodate extra luggage for all travellers.

Beyond the logistical challenges, the airline's head highlighted the significant financial impact, noting that baggage fees represent a substantial portion of easyJet's annual ancillary revenue.

As he explained to The Guardian, the loss of this revenue stream would force the carrier to raise base ticket prices for all customers, harming its low-cost model. Recalling past problems with boarding delays caused by excess baggage in the cabin, Jarvis described the proposal as "terrible for the consumer," insisting that the current system offers exceptional value.
