Calculations by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), mention that of the 278 municipalities in mainland Portugal, only about 40 along the coast face a high or moderate risk, namely in the districts of Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal and Faro.

The fire risk is expected to remain high throughout the week, as per the IPMA forecast.

All districts, except Faro, are under a yellow warning from 27 July to 30 July due to the heat, with maximum temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in Santarém and Évora, while in Lisbon it will reach 37 degrees and in Porto 31 degrees.

The yellow warning, the least severe, is issued when there is a risk to certain activities dependent on the weather.
