According to the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), temperatures are expected to rise significantly across mainland Portugal during the second week of June, with some inland areas likely to see thermometers climb above 35°C.

After a brief spell of milder weather, temperatures are expected to rise across much of Portugal next week, with inland areas forecast to be the hardest hit. While the coast should remain relatively comfortable, parts of the Alentejo, Algarve and central regions could see thermometers climb into the mid-30s.

The hottest conditions are currently forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, when temperatures could reach between 32°C and 36°C across parts of the Alentejo, Beira Baixa, the Douro Valley and the eastern Algarve. In some of the country's traditionally hottest locations, values may climb even higher.

Portugal could be in for another spell of hot weather next week, with temperatures set to rise in many parts of the country. The highest values are expected inland, particularly in the Alentejo, Algarve and central regions, where thermometers may climb above 35°C. Along the coast, the Atlantic is likely to keep conditions a little cooler.

The warm spell follows an unusually hot end to May and comes after a brief period of more comfortable temperatures in several regions. Forecast models indicate that temperatures across much of the country could remain above the seasonal average throughout next week.

Although confidence is high regarding the arrival of the warmer conditions, forecasts become less certain towards the end of the week. For now, however, the outlook points to several consecutive days of summer-like weather, particularly away from the coast.
