The new Prague-Lisbon connection will begin on 26 October 2026, and operate three times a week, with flights scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

This reinforces Smartwings’ presence in Portugal, where the airline already serves Porto, Funchal in Madeira and Ponta Delgada in the Azores.

The launch of the Lisbon service is expected to provide greater connectivity for Portugal and the Czech Republic, offering travellers a direct link between the two capital cities without the need for layovers.

In addition to the new route, Smartwings will raise the number of flights between Prague and Porto from two to three weekly services from the end of October, as similar frequency increases will also be introduced on routes to Bilbao in Spain and Toulouse in France.

The airline is also extending its service to Nice, which previously operated only during the summer season, but from the winter 2026/27 schedule onwards, the French Riviera destination will be served year-round with three flights per week.

Meeting demand

Michal Váňa, Commercial Director at Smartwings, said the new Lisbon route reflects growing demand among Czech travellers for popular European city destinations.

“The new service will allow passengers to travel directly from Prague to one of Europe’s most sought-after capitals without the need for transfers”, he explained. “We have seen increasing interest in attractive European destinations and continue to expand our scheduled flight network accordingly.”

Under its winter 2026/27 programme, Smartwings will offer direct flights from Czech airports to 39 destinations.

Furthermore, the airline will continue to serve routes from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
