Singer Perrie Edwards, former member of the British girl band Little Mix, and footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, former England international, formalised their union in an intimate and refined ceremony in the village of Estoi, Faro.

The couple, both 32 years old and together since 2017, chose the idyllic setting of southern Portugal, where the artist owns a holiday home, to gather family and close friends in an event that combined local tradition with British glamour.

Religious ceremony

The religious ceremony took place in the Igreja Matriz de Estoi, a 16th-century church clad in white marble and situated on the slopes of the Serra do Monte Figo. The Catholic ceremony, attended by approximately 70 guests, began in the mid-afternoon with the arrival of the groom, the current Celtic Glasgow midfielder, accompanied by his father, former footballer Mark Chamberlain, and his brother.

Shortly after, the bride dazzled those present by arriving in a vintage white Mercedes convertible. Perrie Edwards ascended the church steps in an elegant white lace dress, completing the moment when the newlyweds left the church under a shower of white petals, a cloud of multicoloured smoke, and to the sound of Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World," played in the village square where guests could toast with the iconic national beer Super Bock.

Parrilla Natural restaurant

After the religious ceremony, the festivities moved to the Parrilla Natural restaurant, a well-known South American-inspired establishment located in Vale do Lobo, Loulé municipality.

The venue was closed to the public to host the private reception, featuring an exclusive menu showcasing prime cuts of meat and select wines. Guests included several prominent figures from British football, such as Danny Welbeck, Kieran Gibbs, and Harrison Reed.

However, Jade Thirlwall, also a former member of Little Mix, was the most notable absence of the day, due to pressing professional commitments that kept her in the north of the country, where she was performing that same evening at the Primavera Sound Porto festival.

Choosing Algarve

The choice of the Algarve as the wedding venue was not an isolated decision, reflecting the strong emotional connection and investment the two public figures have in the region. In the week leading up to the big day, the couple and their two children, Axel and Alanis Valentine, stayed at the luxury resort of Quinta do Lago, while the rest of the guests stayed at the prestigious five-star Conrad Algarve hotel.

This event reinforces the international projection of the Algarve brand in the high-end wedding tourism segment (destination weddings), demonstrating the capacity of local hotels and restaurants to ensure the demanding standards of privacy, security and sophistication sought by the biggest stars of European entertainment.
