Quoted by ECO, José Lopes, Country Manager of easyJet, states that the Algarve is the company's fifth largest destination during the summer, behind four Spanish airports. It was also Faro airport that "led easyJet's rapid recovery in the post-pandemic period."

According to the same media outlet, since connections to Gago Coutinho Airport began, approximately 27 million passengers have been transported in 27 years. During that same period, easyJet has contributed more than €8 billion to the region's economy.

To ECO, José Lopes also says that 80% of the traffic occurs between April and October, considered the summer season, admitting that the company's operations in the Algarve are seasonal.

In the cases of Lisbon and Porto, José Lopes says the scenario is different, with operations running smoothly year-round. According to him, in the North of the country, there is a high incidence of Portuguese emigrants who wish to visit their country. However, he also highlights the large-scale emigration from Portugal in 2007, with many heading to London.

At Madeira Airport, easyJet is the leader, with a third of its passengers being Portuguese residents.
