“Having reached 80% utilization of the available sole quota […] it is hereby informed that on trips starting from 12 am on 6 July, fishing directed at this population unit is prohibited in zones eight c, eight d, eight e, nine and 10 of the ICES and in Union waters of the CECAF zone 34.1.1”, reads a note from the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM).
These areas correspond to the Southern Bay of Biscay, the offshore (open sea) Western Bay of Biscay, Portuguese waters, and the Azores Bank.
Landings of this fish are limited to 5% of the total landed per vessel in each fishing season.
