Initially, the IPMA had placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, and Braga under a yellow warning from 3:00 pm today until midnight on Wednesday; Vila Real and Aveiro from 6:00 pm today until 3:00 am Wednesday; and Viseu, Leiria, and Coimbra from 9:00 pm today until 6:00 am Wednesday.

In a new statement this morning, the IPMA also placed the districts of Lisbon, Santarém, Guarda, and Leiria under a yellow warning for heavy rain between midnight and 6:00 am on Wednesday.

The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, and Braga between 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm today, due to forecasts of strong winds with gusts reaching 70 to 80 kilometres per hour.

A yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued when there is a risk to activities sensitive to weather conditions.

For today on the mainland, the Institute forecasts periods of rain—heavy at times from the afternoon onwards, especially in the North and Centre regions—and strong winds with gusts along the northern and central coasts and in the highlands.

The forecast also indicates a slight rise in minimum temperatures, particularly along the coast, and a slight drop in maximum temperatures.

Minimum temperatures will range from 14 degrees Celsius (Guarda) to 21 degrees Celsius (Coimbra), while maximum temperatures will range from 19 degrees Celsius (Guarda) to 30 degrees Celsius (Évora).
