The national team's captain, who left Portugal's training camp in Copenhagen at the end of September and is still serving a suspension imposed by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), is among the initial selections made by head coach Jorge Jesus, who is expected to announce the final squad at the end of next week.
Having already secured qualification from Nations League Group A4 for the quarter-finals, Portugal will face Denmark in Braga on 14 November and Wales in Cardiff on 17 November, in their final group-stage matches.
On 30 September, the 41-year-old captain of the Portuguese national team and forward for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr left Portugal's training camp, where the squad had been preparing for their Group A4 Nations League matches against Denmark and Norway, following victories over Wales (1-0) and Norway (2-1).
Ronaldo started against Wales but was an unused substitute in the away match against Norway, during which he spent much of the second half warming up. After the match in Oslo, he left the pitch appearing dissatisfied and did not join his Portugal teammates in thanking the travelling supporters.
Following Jesus's pre-match press conference ahead of the Denmark fixture, Ronaldo left the national team's training camp. He later claimed in a written statement that the head coach had broken his word to him on more than one occasion.
Ronaldo was handed a 30-day suspension and fined €255 by the FPF's Disciplinary Council for leaving the training camp. However, the suspension expires before Portugal's next matches.
