The work can involve electricity cables, transformers and other components of the distribution network.
Why this is taking place
Unlike unexpected power failures caused by storms or equipment faults, these interruptions are scheduled in advance.
According to E-Redes, maintenance interruptions are generally limited to small geographical areas and may affect only individual streets or groups of buildings.
The company says approximately 2,000 of its 6.5 million customers are affected by planned interruptions during an average week.
Where contact details are available, E-Redes also provides advance notification to customers who may be affected.
Residents should consult the E-Redes website or its Digital Customer Service portal to confirm whether their address falls within a scheduled interruption area.
The company’s online service provides information about planned maintenance, including the affected locations and expected duration.
People working from home or relying on electrical equipment may want to prepare for a temporary interruption by charging essential devices in advance.
E-Redes also advises that electricity can be restored as soon as maintenance is completed, meaning the published finishing time should not be considered an exact guarantee.
Anyone experiencing an unexpected outage can report the problem through E-Redes’ digital services or its free 24-hour electricity fault line, 800 506 506.
