“Everything has been passable since 7:30 am, when the roads were reopened to traffic”, said a source from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-Regional Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).

The connections Piornos-Torre, Torre-Torre, Torre-Lagoa Comprida, Portela de Arão-Lagoa Comprida and Lagoa Comprida-Sabugueiro, on Estrada Nacional (EN) 339, which crosses the central massif, had been closed at 4pm on Wednesday.

Later, traffic between Manteigas and Piornos, on the EN338, was also closed.
